Kin Health has raised $9 million in a seed funding round led by Maveron to develop an AI-powered app designed to help patients better manage medical appointments and follow-up care.
The company’s app records conversations during doctor visits, transcribes them, and generates summaries that highlight key medical advice and next steps. Users can also save questions for future appointments and share summaries with family members or caregivers. Kin Health said patient data is encrypted and private by default.
The startup was founded by physicians Arpan Parikh and Amit Parikh alongside Kyle Alwyn, who previously founded online prescription platform HeyDoctor before its acquisition by GoodRx. GoodRx co-founders Doug Hirsch and Trevor Bezdek are also involved as founding partners and executive chairmen.
Kin Health said it plans to expand beyond appointment transcription by integrating additional health data sources, including electronic health records, later this year. The company intends to keep the core product free and monetize through referrals to healthcare services such as labs and specialists, following a model similar to GoodRx.
The funding round included participation from Town Hall Ventures, Eniac Ventures, Flex Capital, Foundry Square Capital, Pear VC, and The Family Fund, alongside a group of physician and angel investors.
The raise comes as investor interest in AI-powered healthcare assistants continues to grow, particularly around tools aimed at reducing administrative complexity and helping patients navigate fragmented healthcare systems.
